House in Ishii, Naya

A part of a project to renovate an old farmhouse in the Yoshino River basin in Tokushima Prefecture as a home for the client, who is making a U-turn from Tokyo. The barn, completed in 1827, was renovated into a guest room and multipurpose space. A steel portal frame was added for structural reinforcement while restoring the original exterior atmosphere. The first floor is a dirt floor multipurpose space where events can be held, and part of the second floor is an insulated guest room.
